With Christmas just around the corner, one little boy in the US learned just how much reward can come from getting in the spirit of the season.

Nine-year-old Mikah Frye, trom Ashland county in Ohio, decided he would do a good deed last week. His grandmother wanted to give him a $300 Xbox One X for CHristmas. Instead, the little boy decided to give up the gaming console, instead his grandmother to spend that money on blankets to give out to the local homeless people. Winter in Ohio is cold after all .
They decided to donate the blankets to a local charity name the Ashland Church Community Emergency Shelter Services. Interestingly, it’s a charity that previously helped out Frye’s family years ago when they ran into financial difficulties. But not just blankets, the little boy even included handwritten notes along with each of the blankets he was giving out.
“They gave me a blanket, but I had to leave it,” the notes read. “That’s why I want you to have your own blanket … Today, I live in my own house, and someday you will too. Your friend Mikah.”
What happened after that however, the kid didn’t expect. Frye’s selfless gesture caught the attention of Microsoft, which makes the console. To reward him for his act of giving, the company decided to offer him a free Xbox One X after all. And when he travelled to his nearest Microsoft Store to pick it up, he realised there were two more bags of gifts waiting for him. Not just a special Minecraft-themed edition of the Xbox One X, but also assorted games and accessories he could use with the console.
When she learned what Microsoft was planning to do for Frye, his grandmother said she was overwhelmed. “When they called and told me I was just instantly crying on the phone and I couldn’t believe it,” she said.
Frye too couldn’t hold back his tears as he was led into the store, surrounded by applauding employees. And at least this year, there are a few homeless that can keep warmer through Christmas.
