In today’s world of frugal fights and feeble relationships, is there any place for love that transcends everything? I guess not. It’s 2017 gaiz and in this era, the cool thing is to separate, leave and preach strict abomination upon disliking.
But even now, there are couples who send chills down our spine when we talk about true companionship. A couple who had very recently celebrated their 71 years of marriage died just 15 minutes apart from each other.
Bob and Ruth Kretschmer’s story is something that’s making the whole world emotional for some reason. Their children, who have witnessed their parents love story first hand say that their relationship was made of sheer devotion, love and courage.
92-year-old Bob who was battling lung cancer was living for her 90-year-old wife who suffered from Alzheimer’s. As their children narrate, together they decided to live for each other and die for each other so that neither of them is left alone.
Just a little while before Bob died, he told a friend that he is going downhill but he’s keeping it intact because he can’t have Ruth go home, alone. That said, when Ruth died, just 15 minutes after that, Bob’s hand also went limp.
“[The nurse] said: ‘She’s gone,’ and she stood up, turned around and said: ‘Oh my God, he’s gone.’ It was as if he was released from his duty. As soon as he heard mom declared at 10:25 am, dad was declared at 10:26 am. I believe to the bottom of my soul he hung on for her.” their daughter said.
The couple is lived by their 3 children, 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
