Here’s a study that lays-to-rest the presumption about men being more athletic than women.
Women are naturally fitter than men as they can process oxygen quicker than men when they exercise, according to researchers from the University of Waterloo.
Quick oxygen uptake places less strain on the body’s cells and is considered an important measure of aerobic fitness.
The research team found that women consistently outperformed the men by 30 percent as oxygen was handled more efficiently in their body.
Women’s muscles extract oxygen from the blood faster, which, scientifically speaking, indicates a superior aerobic system, according to the study published in Applied Physiology, Nutrition, and Metabolism.
While the study wasn’t able to reveal why women have a faster oxygen uptake system, it does question conventional wisdom, which has always considered men to be fitter gender in every manner.
