Kidambi Srikanth is on a roll. Currently ranked number four in the world, he is right now at the peak of his career.
Srikanth clinched the French Open on October 29 to become the first Indian shuttler to win four Super Series titles in a season.
However, the man is not interested in rankings at the moment.
“Rankings don’t matter to me, I just want to keep on doing well for India,” he said while speaking to the media in Hyderabad.
While he admits that cricket shall always be India’s favourite sport, the shuttler believes badminton players must keep their focus intact.
“I believe it’s important to train hard and stay focused,” he said.
Srikanth is open about the fact that his game has drastically improved as he can play the longer matches without losing his stamina.
“The training that I have put in over the last 8 to 10 months is paying off now.”
With back-to-back titles at Denmark and France, Srikanth has sealed his place at the top of Destination Dubai rankings and would be a prime contender for the Super Series Final title in December.

Right now, however he is just taking it one match at a time.
“Not really sure how I will go about the next tournaments, I have to go back and talk to my coach and decide what tournaments I will play before the Super Series finals,” he added.
