February is just a week old, but love and spring are on their way. But that’s not all the month has packaged for us to enjoy. There is also a special, rare event waiting to dawn upon us. It’s called the Black Moon.
After the Super Blue Blood Moon event of January 31st, it’s quite amazing that another celestial event is coming our way so soon. But there’s a catch.
What is Black Moon?
February will see the Black Moon for the first time in 19 years. According to Time and Date, there are several definitions of a Black Moon. It can either be two new moons in the same month or, when there isn’t a new moon or full moon in February, or it can be the name of a third new moon in the season of four new moons.
Basically, the absence of a full moon this month is literally a Black Moon. You will not be able to see the full moon because she won’t be appearing in the sky at all!
Time and Date explains,
“About once every 20 years, February does not have a Full Moon. Instead, there are two Full Moons in January and March. The next Black Moon by this definition will occur in 2018, while the last one was in 1999. Because of time zone differences, these Black Moons may not happen all over the world.”
In other, simpler words…
Full Moon depicts the completion of time. Hence, a dark moon or a Black Moon is a “time of manifestation”. Maybe the moon is just trying to take some time off, to introspect, and come back with an even more special treat for us. Let’s take this opportunity to do just that with our lives and make the most of this short month.
