Bollywood buffs went into a tizzy to see “I love Pakistan” tweet from Anupam Kher’s official Twitter handle. Turned out, his Twitter account was hacked, and a “Turkish Cyber Army” took charge of it.
“Your account has been hacked by the Turkish cyber army Ayyildiz Tim. Your DM correspondence and important data have been captured!’ ‘I Love Pakistan,” read the tweet.
Anupam was quick to inform his millions of fans that his Twitter account has been hacked. “My Twitter account has been hacked. Just got few calls from friends in India about it. I am in Los Angeles and it is 1 am. Have spoken to Twitter already.”
The hackers are believed to be from pro-Pakistani group of Turkey.
Furthermore, Anupam is not the only one who is the victim of cyber crime. It has also been reported that BJP general secretary Ram Madhav and Rajya Sabha member Swapan Dasgupta’s Twitter handles have also been hacked. Similar messages saying “Love Pakistan” were tweeted.
Strangely, Kher says that he got a DM from Swapan a day before the incident took place. “Got a DM yesterday from Mr Swapan Dasgupta’s account about a link. A first from him. So opened it. Have spoken to Twitter already,” he told PTI.
Minutes after his account was hacked, Twitter suspended it temporarily.
Our teams are working to resolve an issue affecting a small number of Indian users. We will notify affected account holders directly. Reminder: do not click on links in DMs coming from unknown accounts. For security advice & best practice, read here: https://t.co/Wb8g07EjfD
